Sweet, already during my first week in W.A. I enjoyed something very typical, beautifully Australian unfortunately not so common in Europe: a beach festival on breathtaking Meelup Beach, Western Australia.
Meelup is an aboriginal word and stands for “Place of the Moon rising” as here on Meelup Beach at certain times of the year one can observe the Moon rising on the horizon over the mindblowing turqoise coloures Indian Ocean. The beach festival was dedicated to our wonderful Mother Nature and the preservation of its creatures in and outside the water. Surfrider foundation was there, so were all the local bodies that care for the Ocean and its inhabitans. Great musicians performed live on a small stage and volunteers taught kids about the environment and how important it was to care for our beaches and all animals. Yeah, they even had some alive snakes to demonstrate to the kids that we all ‘can live in peace together’, we don’t need to fear them, every creature on our lovely planet can be friends as long as we give respect to eachother.
Loved it 🙂
