A kitechick alone in mexico (ITA version)

Yet again a true highlight of my ‘kite-nomad life’: as spontaneous the trip started as memorable it is still today.

I was heading by bus to Cancun (Mexico) after a few intense weeks of ‘hardcore spring training’ in Belize, Central America (there are no flights from Belize to Europe, so had to go via Mexico), with the plan of boarding my plane back to Europe a few days later, when I remembered ‘Gustavo’, a funny Mexican who I’ve had met a couple of years ago, at the PKRA World Cup in Cabarete, Dominican Republic. Although ages had passed since I last had been in touch with him, I decided to send him an email when the bus stopped in ancient Tulim, where I played tourist for a day, visiting the amazing Maya temples that are situated right at the incredibly turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. I could not remember where in Mexico Gustavo was living, possibly he was no more by now or even had stopped kiting trading a passion for a career in some smoggy Mexican city so I sent him an email…

Well, Gustavo was still in Mexico as I found out in an email the next day and that’s where the Mexico-adventure starts. What a thrill, totally unplanned (once again, I was actually on my way home back to Europe from Belize), a super crazy trip, jelly fish attack, paragliding with a world champ, so many new impressions, friends, fun & sick sessions.
