My home today is Margaret River, in Western Australia. Y e h a, I’ve come a long way from where I was born and grew up, namely in landlocked Austria, Europe. Funny in a way, that I decided to adopt my new home after over 15 years of traveling pretty much right at the other side of the world 🙂
I fell in love with WA in 2007, when I first came here as part of a photo-trip-mission. Today, I can’t think of any other place that I’d rather be living at, I’m simply loving it here and I feel truly blessed to be saying and living that!
Winter in Margaret River, however, ain’t that pleasant…. yep, it gets rather grey, cold and wet here and all that for quite a few months. As I’m kind of allergic to the cold, every year, I throw all my toys (kite, surf, SUP) in my 60’s series Landcruiser from 1982 and head up North, where it’s muuuuch warmer and nicer 🙂
On this year’s trip, I was followed by a helicopter. In it: Colin Leonhardt, one of Australia’s top aerial photographers with a biiiig lense and appetite for adventure. And life did not let us down!
The leading German Kite-Magazine: Kiteboarding published the story of our adventurous trip, photographed partially from the birdseye-view on 9 pages. Read it right here online or feel free to download the whole article, simply by pressing on the button below.
Have fun!
