Ever since I arrived here in Portugal for the Wavemaster 2007, I’m not the luckiest kitechick on earth …
First day, just shortly after having picked up my rental car at Lisbon airport, it got already broken into. 2nd day, somebody crashed into me during a surf session at Praya Grande, breaking a huge hole into my new surfboard. 3rd day, vandals felt the need of scratching my poor rental car badly with their keys…
The event itself also isn’t blessed by luck. ever since it had started, there’s no more swell nor wind… we still have managed to push through a few heats by now in really edgy conditions, with onshore light wind and chop – me, drawn right into the first heat of the event…up against the world champ Kirsty Jones from the UK…lucky draw, yeah!? The wind dropped drastically in the first minutes of my heat … and it took me ages to get back outside every time I rode one of the chops in…
so, on standby for the double elimination … and time for surfing J as well as sightseeing !
