Now that I have a little break in my busy competition schedule, I decided to do something that I haven’t done in many years…. hanging out in my beautiful home country Austria. Thanks to my motor sponsor KIA and my supercool Carnival Van, I followed the invitation of Hardy Brandstoetter, one of Austria’s ‘Godfathers’ of the kiting industry and packed a few shorts and shirts and left Vienna in search for good spots…
Hardy is based at the beautiful Moonlake in gorgeous Upper Austria. In the summer he’s busy with his ‘kitesurfcenter Mondsee’ and in the winter he runs ‘snowkiting.at’, THE snowkiting-school in Austria … he’s a supernice dude, checkout his website www.snowkiting.at . His younger brother Heinar, a very talented young kiter, is doing most of the teaching so that Hardy can concentrate on the running of his business, shop (located at the Sailing Club Mondsee) and many other projects…
We kited the Moonlake at a couple of occasions, the absolute highlight of my trip, however, was a more-than-a-perfect day at the ‘Traunsee’. I stayed out for 4 and a half hous before coming back in…just didn’t want the dream to end… thank you Hardy!!
you can find more pics of that unforgettable day in my picture gallery…enjoy! – a HUUUGE ‘THANKS’ goes to Franz Grabner, not only an awesome photographer also a really cool guy, check him out !!
