Traunsee – Frei wie der Wind

Everything about sailing, kite- and windsurfing on one of Austria’s most beautiful lakes, the ‘Traunsee’ (lake Traun), a breathtakingly beautiful lake surrounded by unique mountain secenery in the heart of the popular tourism region the ‘Salzkammergut’ in Upper Austria, where my parents are from.

The Yacht Revue features me (as local by my roots and happy visitor today as my parents moved to Vienna before I stepped kiter-foot on mother Earth) besides some Austrian windsurfer-legends. However, the true star of the article is the lake, its beauty and opportunities to ‘play’. Rindbach in Ebensee at the notherly end of the lake is the spot where it’s happening for wind-addicts, on clear days in the summer most of the time already before dawn when the wind often blows with 4-5 Bft between 5 and 9 o’clock.
